So last week I went to the Poetry Slam on Western Carolina University's campus. The event was held in the dining hall, right next to Starbucks! The poets came together in honor of Martin Luther King week. This year marks Martin L. King Jr's 82nd birthday and the 25th anniversary of the MLK holiday.
I feel like the students brought a different message to the room, but still stayed within the same theme... equality. I was impressed by the number of students that attended and supported one another as they stood in front of their peers to share their own work, favorite poets and authors.
